I guess everyday can’t be a PR day. Today was not roses and ribbons for me. It sucked. My performance sucked. I felt sucky (if that’s even a word).
Not to mention I forgot my wrist wraps at home, so I had to tape my wrists. I know it’s psychological.. but by the end of the WOD my wrists were actually quite sore. Those damn wraps just work.
I just felt ‘off’ today, from start to my horrific sort-of finish. The funny thing was I was psyched to find a new 1RM with the Oly lifts.. but somehow my brain got in the way. I psyched myself ‘out’ of the game before I even started. I think after the first round of failing at the Snatch things just went down hill.
Today was a lesson learning day.
“WOD 120901:
BB Gymnastics
1) 3 attempts to establish a 1RM Snatch.
My previous 1RM = 135lb. I did 135, 155f, 155f. I probably should have stepped up to just 145lb or less. My technique was just ‘off’. I couldn’t get under the bar and somehow couldn’t get set in the squat. Nothing but poo all around
2) 3 attempts to establish a 1RM Clean and Jerk.
Same ordeal. Nuttin but poo. My previous 1RM Clean = 225. I will always sub Cleans for the C&J because of my shoulder/neck injury. I have a good 45% decrease in strength when lifting weight above my shoulders. I did 135, 175 clean only x 2 sets. I
Notes: Treat these attempts as if you were at a meet. Do not count reps that are pressed out, and ONLY allow yourself the 3 attempts. Rest at least 3 minutes between attempts.
Strength
EMOM for 7 minutes:
2 1 1/4 Front Squats @ 75% DEMO VIDEO
Couldn’t’ get the rack position right – killed my neck and clavicles. Jeebers I was just a mess. Then halfway through the rep scheme I realized I wasn’t doing the damn 1 ¼ rep right. More suckage all around.

This took the cake. I got up to round 3 and my wristS were on fire, my shoulders were starting to hurt and quite honestly my mind was just out for a drive. I stopped after round 3 finished and I don’t even remember what the time was I was so pissed and out of sorts by then.
Like I said. A lesson learning day. My hamstrings were on fire all day from previous days. I should have taken the soreness as a sign to take the day off. Ahh well. Full day off tomorrow. Besides I have plenty of schoolwork already piling up.
